Bio:

Mikhail Barinov VIII was born in the year of Winter
718, in the town of Summerset. Summeset is a
small town under fealty of the City State of Astra, in
the United Cities of Emelan.

His father, Mikhail VII, was the town Justice, and his
mother was a lady of gentry. Unfortunately for
young Mikhail, his mother fell ill in the Fall of the
year 723, and died later that winter. Mikhail
VII, who didn’t want the responsibility of raising his small
child, quickly re-married a comely young Advocate’s
assistant named Veronika.

Veronika’s formerly warm facade faded over time to
reveal a wife and mother with a heart of ice. Several
years later, in the year of 730, Mikhail VII abruptly dropped
dead at his bench, of unknown causes. Within the month,
Veronika, who was pregnant, remarried a younger
man, and had disowned her step son.

Twelve years old, with only the clothes on his back,
Mikhail Barinov VIII was forced to set off into the
world. The first three years were hard on the young
man; he was a child of learning, with no real
profitable skills. Fortunately, his years under
Veronika had hardened his soul and strengthened
his body, and he fell in with a boys’ band in the city
of Astra.

In the year of 733, at age fifteen, it seemed likely his
fate would be that he’d die with a dagger in his
back, or chains around his wrists, but it was then
that he caught his first break. A shady entrepreneur
had promised a local merchant five mercenaries for
a low price. The Entrepreneur considered the fact
that he had only recently been approached by four
traveling Mercenaries, and asked to play middle
man for a small cut. Mikhail was hired to pretend to
be their fifth, and thus young Barinov fell under the
tutelage of Viktor The Merc Harold. The
entrepreneur didn’t live to see the dawn, and the
merchant was forced to renegotiation his price on
the road three days hence.
